Stockings

This past week, I've been cooped up inside with a nasty sinus infection / hacking cough.
After sleeping a few of those days, I started feeling good enough to be more human.

So I dusted off the sewing machine, went on pinterest for inspiration and voilà !

I made our Christmas stockings !!!

Inspired by this picture below:

I used one of my wool socks as a pattern and just added some fat - ha !

The material came from old Gap slacks and old American Eagle jeans from Tonio.
They were at the point-of-no-return, so basically, the holes were far too advanced for my amateur seamstress skills =).

As you can see, I alternated the pants material for the reverse sides.

Using my favorite sewing tool, the trusty seam ripper,
I removed 2 belt loops from each pair of pants to make the hooks.

Can you guess which one is Tonio's and which one is mine?
I know we will have some fun stuffing those pockets too.
The Gap slacks were Tonio's favorite pair of pants, so, in a way, we're paying homage.
May they live forever... or until I get tired of them and decide to sew new stockings =).

I'm very thankful for my husband who takes such good care of me and encourages me in my creative endeavors (I know he's proud of me for trying new things).

Thank you Jesus for the down times.

3 blessings this week...

...out of many

I made my own pumpkin pie out of a real pumpkin !
And I made the crust from scratch too =)
Living in a far away land demands creativity - ha.
We don't have canned pumpkin here, so I made my own "can."
Voilà.  Proud of myself.

I got a free osteopathic/chiropractic visit !
A lady at church made the appointment for her daughter,
but since her daughter couldn't make it, I benefited.
It was one of those "beyond expectations" deals.
I twisted my neck a few weeks ago, and I lost some range of motion.
Since a visit can be costly, I reasoned that I would just stretch and suck it up.
No need.  God had other plans.
He heard the little cry of my heart.
The doc put me back together =).
And the room was beautiful to boot !

Sebastien is in town !
Many of you know Tonio's brother, Sebastien.
He's so much fun to be around.
In fact, he and Tonio are currently on a 2-3 day hike in the mountains.
Well, he's a pilot for Air France, and I wanted to try out his coat.
He looks a lot SNAZZIER than me in it, that's for sure.
Plus, I'm swimming in it !

That's all.
Thanks for reading.
Bye.

visit from Germany

Meet our friend Manu from Germany.

He and his lovely wife, Esther, both served in Nice a few years ago.
Now living in Germany, they came back here for a visit in June 2011.
You may remember a WALK we took.

Well, Manu had some vacation time:
he hopped on a motorcycle,
and came to stay with us for 2 nights.

Thanks for the visit Manu !!!

This day was really blessed by God.
We are all voluntary and it has been like this for all these years !
Pray for this store that it can continue to be a light in the neighborhood.
Thank you Jesus for this group and for your provision.

pray

 prier

The key to the missionary’s difficult task is also not the key of common sense,

nor is it the key of medicine, civilization, education, or even evangelization.

The key is in following the Master’s orders— the key is prayer.
La réponse, c'est la prière.

“Pray the Lord of the harvest . . . .” -Matt. 9:38
"Priez donc le Maître de la Moisson."

In the natural realm, prayer is not practical but absurd.

We have to realize that prayer is foolish from the commonsense point of view.

Our Lord calls us to no special work— He calls us to Himself.

“Pray the Lord of the harvest,” and He will engineer your circumstances
to send you out as His laborer.
"Priez donc le Maître de la Moisson" ; il dirigera lui-même les circonstances de votre vie,
et vous enverra dans sa Moisson.

This really taught me something this morning,
so I wanted to share it with you guys.
I hope it changes your perspective, too.
I'm so thankful for such a gracious God.

flowers

Merci mon amour !
Thank you my love !

My wonderful husband went down to buy a roasted chicken for lunch today.
He returned without a chicken, explaining the shop was closed.

"BUT look what I found," he gestured,
as he handed me this happy bouquet of beautiful gerber daisies =).

Cheery orange smiles in a vase reminding me of how much I am loved.
Jesus, thank you for my man.
