Beach Picnic with Tonton

After my mom and dad left, we had to pleasure of having Daphné's tonton come visit for a day!

Unfortunately, Daphné was attacked by a mosquito, and the t-bird got her eye.  Poor thing.

It swelled shut, and she was sooooo itchy.  But she's a trooper, man.

Our view from our picnic blanket.  This is Saint Jean Cap Ferrat.

Tonio and Sebastien going out for a snorkel.

Tonton Seb!!!

Papa!!!

The brothers.  I'm so thankful they have each other.

And this little girl decided she wanted to walk the whole beach back to the car.

She loves her Daddy!

What an amazing place we live.  Thank you God for creating such beauty for us to enjoy!

Come on Papa!

Up the stairs.

The night finished with a LOOOOOONG visit to the emergency room.  She's doing fine now.  Her eye is all back to normal.  Mosquito spray and a mosquito net is part of our daily routine!

au revoir Jeremiah et Daniel

bye bye Jeremiah and Daniel

these guys left about a week ago, and we already miss eating croissants with them ;)

our "last supper" at the beach after a sunset snorkel (Thomas, Nancy, Daniel, Jeremiah, Tonio)

and we had the beach almost all to ourselves

this is the estate that Jeremiah and Daniel will one day buy

proud future owners =)  Don't worry, they'll invite us ALL to their house-warming party

we are so proud of these guys... due to a hurricane in NY, their flights were changed, and they couldn't fly back home on the same airline together... they braved it and made it safely back to their destinations.  At 15 years-old, I don't know if I would have been so courageous.  Bravo les gars !

we hope france has found a way into your hearts - thanks for coming to visit !

tourist in my own town

Nice is nice !
{never heard that one before...haha !}

Friday afternoon.

Saturday morning sunrise.
All the fishermen and old swimmers were out.
I collected some sea glass to add to our jar.
Mini wave.
 My trusty Peugot.
First glimpse of the sun for the day.

Sunday morning.
Tonio leading worship with Brian Campbell.

Sunday afternoon.
Sunset at Cap Ferrat.
Tonio, Brian and Noëmi snorkeling.
 Vivid color filter of Villefranche.
 Noëmi, Brian, Andrew and me.
 Me and my man.

Sunday evening.

When is the last time you were a tourist in your own town?
I try to make it a regular practice.

Just this morning, I was reminded in reading Psalm 100 to be thankful.
"Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name."
-Psalm 100:4

Life can be crappy sometimes often.
But we can't dwell in that.

I write lists of things I am thankful for.
Today, one of them was my beautiful city and the beautiful weather.

Being a constant tourist helps me stay thankful,
because it never gets old =).

ps.  I stumbled across this shirt in looking for a picture of a typical tourist.  I thought it was pretty clever.  No, I'm not that bad.  My camera fits in my purse ;)

Gilligan's Island

Leaving : Cannes
Destination : Îles de Lérins
9 August, 2013

Meet the Skipper, Edgar.

The Professor (Thomas) and Thurston Howell, III (Tonio).

Ginger Grant (Maëva) and Misses Howell (Lindsey).

I definitley won in saying Yes to this man =).
I love him.

We were in good hands with the Captain.

Parking.

Mini waves.

We never did find Gilligan or Mary Ann.

The famous rock throwing challenge.

Tilt-shift.

Squinty.

Our own private beach for the day.

Shoes : mandatory.
Sea urchins galore !

Island along the French Riviera, my handsome, good friends...
La vie est belle !

You can see l'Île Saint-Honorat, the other smaller island with a monestary.

One doesn't always need to go very far to enjoy God's creation.
And yes, I realize how blessed we are to live where we do.

Funny red sea thingy.

Time to say, "À bientôt."

We'll be back.

Here is a picture that may be familiar, leaving France in May for my sister's wedding {post}
You can see the islands in the distance, left of the center.

And another image by another traveler {site}.
We were on the bigger one, Île Sainte-Marguerite.

Fun was had by all.  Thomas approves.

We thank God for our wonderful friends and opportunities like today.
