Grandma & Grandpa (Day 6)

Day 6 of the fun with Grandma and Grandpa!!!

Today we went shopping at the outdoor market, then stopped at a little café for drinks and croissants.

Look at these two!  They don't age!  I love my daddy and mama!

All this walking with Gang-gang has given her quite the confidence she needs to start walking on her own.

Well, it's no secret that I love the outdoor market here in Nice. 
I've already posted about it a few other times : here, here AND here.

 I love buying bowls of damaged fruit for only a euro... they make for great smoothies !

 This batch was a bunch of bruised peaches, so ripe, so yummy.

 Then I couldn't resist the strawberries, mini apricots, nectarines...

 cherries...

 pink lady apples...

watermelon and cantalope !  We're good on fruit for at least a week or so =)


I think I got called "ma belle" four or five times this morning... I love the market people.  They all think I'm beautiful... hehe !

8 days until our big flying contraption miraculously takes us half way across the world !

i'd like to introduce you to a grocery store chain called 8 à Huit

it's the 'little brother' of a bigger store called Carrefour

their name literally means "Eight to Eight," so you can guess their hours

i've personally never been in, but i walk/ride by it often

Flat AUSTYN

Have you ever heard of Flat Stanley?

you can read a little about the book HERE

well, I received Flat AUSTYN in the mail in early January

she came from southern California, so she was used to the sun

she enjoyed all the old statues and monuments

and she came to work with me at the Christian Bible bookstore

a must-see when visiting Nice, France, the Negresco Hotel

the Mediterranean Sea, a little different than the Pacific Ocean

Gunther made a new friend

she came to get a café and a croissant with me and Tonio

she watched Tonio's soccer game

and of course, every country has one

another friend

she really liked Nice's outdoor marché

and Notre Dame, a smaller Nice version

she bought herself a cute t-shirt =)

 

i think maybe UN-flat Austyn might come to visit one day

Austyn is the daughter of one of my old university roommates.

I was honored to be in her wedding so many years ago, 

and now honored to be a small part of her kids lives.

Seemingly small, but mean the world to both parties.

When is the last time you wrote a letter to a child?

I admit, I have a stack of letters in the "write back" pile.

One is from a child, and I think that one shall be priority.
