became a candidate for the May 2007 presidential elections

he won with 53.06% of the votes against the socialist candidate Ségolène Royal

French presidential terms are 5 years, so I was in France for his last two years in office

everyone has their complaints against both,

but we are to respect those in authority as it says in Romans 13 in the Bible
